Saxmundham, the
"heart of the Suffolk Heritage Coast", is close to the seaside resorts of
Aldeburgh, Southwold, Dunwich and Walberswick. Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, with their
pleasure beaches and Pleasurewood Hills fun-park, to the north, and Ipswich and Woodbridge
to the south, are accessible by road and rail. Saxe House is close to the railway station
in Saxmundham.
Other local attractions
are Framlingham Castle, Minsmere RSPB Reserve, and the world-famous concert hall at Snape
Maltings.
Saxmundham itself is a
pleasant market town, with a variety of shops, a Wednesday market, supermarket and various
pubs and restaurants.
